Flower- and Gem Essences

Eduard Bach, a doctor working in Harley St. was the first one to develop a comprehensive system of flower essences. It took many years for his new medicine to get through to the people. Even nowadays, many people do not know what flower and gem essences are and how such a cheap and simple tiny bottle of drops could have such a big effect on their lives. There is a wide variety of essences on the market, but for the beginner I would always recommend to start with a thorough study of the Bach Flower Essences. German Psychotherapist Mechthild Schaeffer wrote a book about the use of the essences. I myself prefer it to Bach's book because it explains the different negative states of mind ever so well. Just by studying the book slowly, you will acquire a thorough understanding of the whole range of those different states of mind, as Dr. Bach has called the various feelings and ways of being entangled by the ego. He has found seven headings for the 38 different remedies which are made by the use of homoeopathic principles. One of the headings is fear. There are remedies for five different forms of fear as follows:

Aspen for fear of the unknown, The occult and the future, Red Chestnut for fear about other people, Rock Rose for fear that causes bodily sensations, mostly in the solar plexus, Cherry Plum for fear to lose your head and go mad, Mimulus for fear of known things, shyness und vulnerability.

The scope of Bach Flower Essences seems to include the whole range of negative states of mind a person can have. You can mix up to six remedies in one 20 ml dropperbottle.

If you are really interested in your own personality, there is nothing better you can do than always asking yourself "how do I feel right now?" and "which remedy would I need right now?"

Holding a stockbottle (they are only £ 2 -3) in your hand can be another way of finding out the remedy you need at any given time. Sensitive people can feel sensations in their hand or the rest of the body when they are holding the right remedy. Sensations range from feelings of warmth, stomach sounds( peristalsis), sensations of electric currents to itchiness, tiny cramps in the intestines indicate the start of elimination and thus show the cleansing effect of a particular remedy. Some people prefer working with a pendulum instead.

Flower Essences are not just taking fear away. They slowly enable you to learn how to deal with your fear. Other essences help to gain more self confidence or overcome your feeling of loneliness or impatience. It is quite unique how subtle an essence will work on you -not like a drug where you get the feeling of being hit with a sledge hammer.

Some remedies make you feel better straight away - those are the ones to start with. Other remedies can get you into all kinds of strange moods, memories from the past will come up and you quite often need a lot of courage to keep taking the remedy and face the changes.

Therapy usually does not heal you straight away. It throws you out of your usual balance into a chaos and then you have to work hard to come to a new and better balance. A lot of essences work like that. But not everybody wants to grow, if it is painful. Some people want to leave old negative feelings and experiences under the carpet and choose rather not to look at them. People who have hurt them are excluded from their lives. Although the old grudges are never ever released and only slumber in a distant corner of ourselves, as long as we haven't dealt with them. Dealing with them properly means sometimes going through old memories and feelings again, digesting them, putting them into a new context and, the most important one, forgiving other people and forgiving ourselves again and again.

Bach Flower Essences for the hands and the heart:

Scleranthus for emotional balance and decision making, Agrimony for personal expression and being able to say "no" to other people's suggestions, Gentian for depression and gaining confidence, Wild Rose for Resignation helps to gain new energies, Honeysuckle and Walnut for loss and letting go with the past.

Gems for the heart are usually pink, red or green. Rose Quartz helps to deal with father figures, missing someone, any emotional upsets, Aventurine helps children to feel at home, jade to develop creativity, especially musical talents.

Putting one of these stones on your heart can help you to go to sleep and balance your feelings.

Spiritual healing

When I trained at the Boyesen Centre in London, I learnt how to work on the aura as well. It is not enough to massage the physical body, some people need "Massage" on the auric body as well. My experience is, that young, slim, subtle, vegetarian non smoking and drinking women usually are the most sensitive ones to aurawork and Flower and Gem Essences. The best way to learn aurawork and spiritual healing is to start with your own body.

Sit down in a comfortable position preferably on the floor and push your hands together. Breathe through the mouth and imagine that you are gathering a lot of energy between your palms. Start forming a ball of energy with circular movements of your hands. Let the ball grow to the size of a football and then with both hands spread the fluffy invisible substance round your head, shoulders and chest. Imagine you are dealing with cotton wool to wrap delicate porcelain . Try to find out where on your body you want to have extra energy. In some places you might already have too much energy. Usually the left side of the body feels more depleted of energy. Try to move your hands away from the skin like cats do when they use their paws on your pullover.

When you start to develop sensitivity in your palms you can feel the gluey energy growing under your palms. Once you have caught it you can slowly enlarge it. Thus a damaged, squashed or depleted aura can be fluffed and repaired similar to the way you shake squashed feather duvets.

Quite often the energy is blocked in the heart. A vortex or auric hole would then appear above the heart. The technique described above can help blocked energy to be released to a certain extent. The auric hole can be fixed for a while, the aura repaired.

Working with good results on your aura sometimes needs a long time of practice. Then it might be preferable to see a healer to explore the sensation of getting healing. You don't have to be ill to ask for healing. Members of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers are working in many places for donations. I am a full member of that body myself and quite often use spiritual healing together with biodynamic massage.

I will always come back to aurawork but it is necessary to practise few steps at a time and not get too much information at once.

I think that this is enough for today. I would like to encourage anybody who practises the exercises that are described in my letters to contact me if they should have any questions.
